Life After Consulting
St Catherines College
5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
The Consulting Society and Bloom have come together to present a special event on life after consulting. The skills learnt as a consultant are similar to the skills entrepreneurs need to be able to think creatively and maximise opportunities.
Keynote speaker, Ajay Malhotra, will be talking about his experiences in consulting, and what led him to make the ultimate decision to pursue an entrepenurial path, and how the skills from his time in consulting facilitated a smooth transition into the start-up sector.
An entrepreneur at heart, Ajay started his first business at the age of 12. He went on to complete a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Commerce at UWA. After graduating he took up a management consulting position at Port Jackson Partners in Sydney where he had the opportunity to work on strategy projects both in Australia and Europe.
Ajay soon realised his passion was in running his own business and he returned to Perth to the party hire business he started while at university. He has grown this business to include 2 of Perth’s largest party stores stocking over 6000 products and has provided equipment hire to over 15,000 events in Perth.
This event is held at the Bloom Lab at St Catherines College.

Co-Founder Night
Curtin University CISCO internet of things, building 216, level 1
5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
Interested in being involved in a start up or have an idea you want to develop but can't do it on your own? Come on down to Bloom Curtin's first Co-Founder night where individuls will share their ideas with hopes of finding a co-founder, a tech guy, more team members or maybe just a friend to share ideas with.
How the night will run:
Bloom will give a quick run down on the importance of having a team and what to look for in potential members / co-founders for your startup, SME or social venture.
Pitchers will then come up and breifly pitch their idea in 2 minutes or less to the audience - we will be timing each person and moving through people as quickly as possible
We will then break to informal discussion and drinks between pitchers and attendees - this is the opporunity for people who are interested in your idea or if you are interested in someone elses ideas to ask questions and possibly get involed.
Before the event (if you want to pitch):
Please contact us at ben@bloom.org.au so that we can help you breifly prepare for the event - don't worry! Your pitch will be short (2 minutes) and all the details do not have to be worked out before the night! We will also help you decide what details should and should not be shared if there is any intellectual property that should be kept private.
Again, your ideas DOES NOT need to have solid foundations, all that we ask for people pitching is that they are passionate and beilive that there is a need for your idea.
Registrations now open, limited spots available.
Bloom would like to thank our generous partners:
- St Catherine's College (Foundation Partner)
- Squire Patton Boggs (Legal Partner)
and Cisco Internet of Everything Innovation Centre for hosting this event.
