Improvisation Workshop
BloomLab
4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Join Catherine Seed, PhD student and member of the comedy troupe Only the Human as she showcases the exciting skill of improvisational comedy.    Improvisational comedy is a form of theatre in which students get up on stage, and from nothing, create characters and stories, with the aim of making the audience laugh, cry or, often both at the same time. In order to do this, improvisers use exercises and shortcuts to enable effective communication.   The process of practicing improv develops many of the soft skills that are otherwise difficult to train, such as confidence, resilience, collaboration and problem solving .    The use of improv as a tool for business is a growing field, especially in the US, with growing research connecting the skills that improvisiational comedy trains to business success. Catherine aims to bring these skills to business people and aspiring entrepreneurs in Perth.   Catherine has trained with improv teachers from the US, Europe, Asia, and around Australia and will be introducing a small group of students the art of improvisational comedy. Places in the workshop are extremely limited
